Flowers (and a few butterflies)
Most of these images captured at the New York Botanical Garden, or the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, or Old Westbury Garden over the course of a number of years and visits. The Lotus flowers only bloom for a short period of time, so it is important to get to these locations (one in the heart of Brooklyn, one in the Bronx) on just the right day. Sometimes it is too windy and the flowers therefore move too much to be able to get pictures which I accept as sharp enough. Sometimes it is too sunny...flowers are best photographed in cloudy or overcast days in order to be able to capture all the subtle color variations and not have them "blown out" by too much light. ALL IMAGES IN EACH OF MY GALLERIES IS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE.
