July 4th Fireworks by PyroSpectacular, mixed years: 2014, 2011, 2010 AND Brooklyn Bridge's 125th Birthday
Private gallery of a number of the images I have taken of the July 4th PyroSpec displays both over the Hudson River and East River in 2014, 2011 and 2010. PLEASE NOTE...MOST OF THESE ARE UNEDITED IN RAW FORMAT, DIRECT FROM CAMERAS.
I also included the shots I took of the 125th birthday of the Statue of Liberty.
Pyrospectacular did the amazing display for Brooklyn Bridge 125th birthday...but they are included as well.
.
For some perspective, there were actually two fireworks barges to the North and South of Liberty Island firing off huge fireworks. As I have quite a few shots of blasts over Lower Manhattan, most of the images for this shoot were concentrated on the shells fired directly from Liberty Island directly near the Statue. The Brooklyn Bridge can be seen directly below the large fireworks. (If you squint, perhaps you can see the River Cafe)

July 4th 2005. This image looks mighty fine as a 24"x36" print. (Quite sorry about the obtrusive watermark, but I find I must continue to attempt to prevent others from copying my images and presenting them as their own work.)

Most fireworks are set off later at night against a totally black sky. Fortunately on this evening, late in May, they were lit during the tail end of the photographic "magic hour" (one hour before sunrise or one hour after sunset). This accounts for the unusual blue sky.Brooklyn Bridge 125th BirthdayBrooklyn BridgeEast RiverNew York Citybrooklynkarl tepferlower manhattanCelebrationCityscapeFireworksNYCSkylinebirthdaycityfestivetepferFourth of JulyPyrospec

Multi-colored fireworks over Manhattan, New York City on July 4th.. Empire State Building is right below the solid red descending fireworks. Unique presentation and colors, at least in my experience photographing fireworks.

Reflections and crowd watching the July 4th Fireworks.....crowd mezmerized!
While waiting for an 8 second direct exposure of the July 4th Macy's fireworks of the Hudson, I used the time to quickly turn around and capture this shot of the crowd behind me. The fireworks above their heads is actually a reflection in the window behind them. The variation in crowd reaction shots was interesting. Fireworks tend to make most people smile, and although you can't hear it, yell out in excitement (as well as take pictures).
Actually, I am quite sure not one of the shots any of these individuals took of the fireworks were even remotely clear or in focus, since a tripod is necessary for any exposure longer than 1/30th of a second.
